Chianciano Terme, Tuscany
In the picturesque heart of Chianciano Terme, Tuscany, the Sant'Elena mineral water source arises from history that traces back to ancient civilisations. Millennia ago, according to Roman writings, the town of Chianciano Terme was known by the Etruscan civilisation, who had built a temple for their God of Health, a heartbeat away from the Sant'Elena site.
Our Heritage
The curative powers of Chianciano's water became known in Roman society, so much so that even the legendary Roman lyrical poet Horace visited Chianciano's thermal baths on the advice of the physicians of Caesar Augustus. The Sant'Elena springs were first documented in 1756. The source was named in honour of the nearby Chapel of Sant'Elena, as a tribute to the legend of the mother of Emperor Constantine – Elena, who discovered the therapeutic properties of water when returning from one of her voyages.
Our Foundations
Officially founded in 1925 as a SPA and luxury bottled water source, the Sant'Elena source has experienced significant success and recognition by the elites worldwide, who would gather in Chianciano Terme to indulge in health rejuvenation and social interaction. The spring was awarded a gold medal at the II International Fair in Brussels the same year.
Recent History
Sant'Elena source is a lush oasis for health and well-being, surrounded by oaks, cypresses and olive trees. It overlooks a panoramic view of Montepulciano and the surrounding sun-kissed hills. Today it is a specialised SPA and a bottling site for two premium natural mineral waters – Sant'Elena and Marzia.
Our Future
Until now, Sant’ Elena and Marzia mineral waters were the best kept secret of Tuscany, reserved for those who could access it. But getting this water is not as hard as it used to be.
We sincerely appreciate the rich heritage that shaped us, and as we look to the future, our mission is to share this premium water with the world, one bottle at a time.
We will create a city of health in Tuscany on the same ground as the spring and bring you here to rediscover what it means be alive!
